Lacey Mosley - Another Blog about Flyleaf

This is going to be short. So yesterday, I bought a lot of Flyleaf's music on iTunes and I've been listening to their music and it's good stuff. I wanted to find out more about the leader singer(Lacey Mosley)'s testimony. She seems like a really cool person and someone who's on fire for Jesus! Since I like their music so much I might start trying to learn more about them but for today I found this video of her telling her testimony and I'll give you the link of where I found it.I found the video and other stuff at this webpage (go to it for more info): http://www.thoughtquotient.com/tag/lacey-mosley/ Here's another link to hear what Lacey has to say about some of her songs and other things: http://listenin.org/player/playshow.aspx?Show=%2fThemes%2flistenin%2fplayer%2fMakePostPlaylist.ashx%3fPlaylistOrder%3d449%2c462%2c463%2c467%2c465%2c461%2c460%2c459%2c458%2c471%2c464%2c469%2c466%2c470%2c468&Title=%0a%09Flyleaf+-+interviews+

Cassie Bernall, Rachel Scott and Flyleaf

So a couple of weeks ago I was at my church for an alnighter and someone had brought the game rock band. It's sweet but I sucked at the drums... But anyways someone made a comment that the band Flyleaf was a Christian band(their song I'm so sick is in the game). I had never heard of them and I didn't think much of it.

This past Friday, as in yesterday actually, my school shut off the lights for an hour for Earth Hour even though that happened today. My last period class we're always on computers but since the school was shutting off the lights for that hour my teacher was like what the heck turn off your computers, save some energy and just hang out. Some guy was doing magic trick and he had me fooled but I really don't have very many friends in that class just because of the way things turned out. So I found myself bored as some of the girls were talking about sleeping over with guys and junk like that and how it would be awkward to wake up and meet their parents. This blog isn't about that but, just as a note, it would be awkward because sleeping around is NOT ok !

By the end of the period, when it wasn't quite finished, God was just telling me to go over and talk with this one girl who used to be a really good student in like gr 9 but lately was getting into more drugs and dirty stuff like that or whatever. But I dismissed what he said. I just ignored what he said, which was wrong. But I got a second chance because at this point I was completely bored and figured I had nothing to lose. (As another note, I knew it was God because I wouldn't do that out of boredom, and the devil wouldn't tell me to be her friend). We talked. She showed me her sketchbook and were talking about art and stuff and she asked me if I had heard about the band Flyleaf, I said yes but had never really listened to their music. We also talked about how one of her past boyfriends, whom I had known, died (supposedly chocked to death by headphone cords by accident, but part of me thinks that it was suicide).

Not all of that was important to this blog, but I figured I'd give extra details just in case in the future I have some kind of really great witnessing opportunity to share the Gospel (or something amazingly awesome like that), you'd know some of the history. I'd hope blog about something cool like that when it happens.

So Flyleaf. I've heard about them twice now. Today I listened to some of their stuff on youtube. Their type of music is something like heavy metal rock , Christian rock that is. I don't know, it's not really my style but I might want to buy some of their music anyways.

This one song called Cassie really caught my attention though. I've listened to it more than any of the other ones so far. I knew what it was talking about pretty much the first time I had heard it, but then I realized that it was about real people and something that really happened. I'll put the lyrics up here quickly (and video):

The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
And I will pull the trigger

So the story is basically this: there was a shooting back in 1999 at Columbine. Cassie Bernall was Christian who had a gun pointed at her and was asked the question "Do you believe in God?" She answered yes and was killed right there for her faith. There was another girl Rachel Scott was also shot for her faith.

When the lead singer of the band, Lacey, sings "And I will pull the trigger" she's saying that she would would die for her faith too. Not that's a likely thing to happen at all but if I were to ever be in a situation where I could get killed for my faith, I hope to also be given the strength to die for it and be a martyr.

Philippians 4:13 says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". I know I would be able to do it on my own so it would have to be all God. The faith of anyone who is willing to die for Jesus always amazes me. And I want that for myself!

So I'm gonna close this blog (one of my longest) by just saying that if you want to learn more about them you can google them. I'm pretty sure there are books of the two girls journals. I would encourage anyone who's interested to look into it. That's all, graffitigirl.

A Poem and a Few Other Thingers...

I wrote a poem yesterday that doesn't yet have a title. Poems don't have to be explained and so I'm not going to, because I'd rather not. So here it is:

Look Deeper (added in afterwards)

A smile has no definition
A smile can mean anything
Usually perceived as a sign of happiness
But they are not limited or refrained to such

A smile has no definition
And a smile can mean anything
Cheap smiles are easy to give out
Unheartfelt and maybe entailing pain

I want to smile and be free
I want to shine with beauty
To be real and mean every minute of it
For my laughter to speak joy

But your distance is painful
It makes me want to cry
I long to be with you
To hear your voice and know I'm loved

That's my request
That's all I want
To smile
And know that it means everything

---------

I let one of my friends read it and she didn't get it. That's fine too, I wasn't expecting them to understand and I wasn't planning on telling them either.

Other things in my life... I recently bought a new West 49 sweater that's reversible... pretty sweet! I got some art stuff that was expensive, but worth it. And today, I got a purple pen. Kind of unusual but I like it. If you didn't know purple is my favourite colour. (Ha two Canadian spellings in a row. My spell check is going crazy).

That reminds me I have spell check right now because I'm using Safari the web browser. It was a free download you could get with iTunes. I was quite excited to be able to have it because I had heard a lot of good stuff about it. The design of it looks really good and it has great features too. One thing I really like about it is that it's a lot faster than my other browser. But right now I'm still trying it out. There's some things I'm not sure I like and I'm kind of wondering whether or not the differences are worth the change... well those are my thoughts anyways. Checking out, your graffiti sister!

UPDATE as of March 30, 2008: I've decided on a title but I'm not letting you know! Haha, sucks to be whoever you are because you don't know... No, but really the title's more for me than for other people so I'm just leaving this blog as it is.

So disregard what I just wrote I came up with a title that's better that I'm going to share. It's called Look Deeper as of now.

The Parable of the Shoes

So check it out ladies and gents! I'm about to tell you a parable, the parable of the shoes. If you don't know what a parable is, well it's kind of like a story with some kind of message. Jesus taught with them all the time. This one isn't Biblical in the sense that it's directly from the Bible, but I would say that it matches what that Holy Book has got inside! So listen up, here it is!

The Parable:

The this is something that's happening in my life right now. Around Christmas time (right after actually because of the sales) I went to West 49 and bought some sick skateboard shoes. These shoes are really cool I've gotta tell you, I even compromised just a little on size so I could get them. That's how cool they are! I went home and thought "These are amazing!" and I promised my self I wouldn't wear them outside until spring so they wouldn't get wrecked. And even though the one's I'm wearing right now are pretty crappy, I'm still not wearing the new ones outside because it won't be same when it is the right time to wear them. It'll feel great walking into school wearing fantabulous shoes, and right now I'm just waiting for that.

The meaning:

So let's just say that when I bought the shoes, I was born. That was the time my life started and at my birth I was given something spectacular that I had to wait for to get the most out of. Maybe you can already see where this is going. The shoes are sex.... oooh sex. You immature babies, just kidding. Spring is like marriage. So if you want to get the most out of sex, then you have to save it 'til marriage. Get it? Think about it, if you're a virgin and you're reading this then you must heard a lot sex and how good (or bad depending who you hear it from, i.e. rape victims, etc). But how good it is when it's used properly and waited for. I'm a virgin and I'm not gonna lie I've wondered a lot about what it will be like when the time comes.

Think about the shoes again, if I were to wear them outside in the winter they get wet from the all the snow. They'd get soaked and the material would be damaged or ruined. And there's a lot of dirt after the snow's melted too. I don't want dirty shoes, I want cool shoes!! So it's the same thing with sex, hold out for marriage brothers and sisters! Save yourself for the best. So there you have it folks, I preach abstinence (but only until marriage because life would suck otherwise...)

Peace, love you all!

A Good Young Blog About Art and Pablo Picasso

So aside from the blog I did earlier today, I haven't done a blog in a long time, which is always the story when I come to blog. Another thing I haven't done in a long time is draw and and make great art! I have the artistic urge today! So what to draw? Well I would love to draw but I would really like to do something with cool programs on a computer that involve photoshop, flash, possibly a macbook and youtube!!! (Youtube because I would love feed back, so maybe a video camera too) But of all those things I only have youtube.

I want inspiration, it's true. I want to do something exciting a new but since all I have is a sketchbook I will use this. Yes, it is time to draw after the artistic fast of a new semester! I want to draw a story but I will finish one that I have already started first. And one last thing. My media arts teacher had to do some lecture about Pablo Picasso. I was very tired that day and so when he was talking it probably looked as if I was sleeping, but in fact, as I am with most artists that I'm taught about in school, I was quite interested. As most people, I assume, you've heard this guy's name a million times. Well I thought he was some old guy artist, and in a way he kind of is because he died before I was born, but in the history of famous artists he's quite recent (October 25, 1881 - April 8, 1973). This guy is like the father of abstraction and I like some of that stuff. Especially graffiti out of it all, I think graffiti is considered a type of abstract... so sweet stuff.

And one more thing, just as this is very recent, as in within the hour, the guy sander79 on youtube makes professional animations like claymations, and he just put another one up like now that I just watched. See ya!

Stream of Consciousness Writing a.k.a. A Freefall

So the last to classes in English, we've been doing some freefalls, basically writing whatever comes to our mind we write down continually for 10 minutes. She (my teacher) encouraged us to do one on the computer because it's different than doing it on paper. My other ones were kind of just venting but this ones mostly random. Here it is:

The last time I went for a walk I needed a drink and so I stopped and talked to a stranger. I asked he sold water or if if he knew where water was sold. He told me that chickens don’t lay eggs. And I thought he was crazy. I quickly realized that what he had told me was true and that really dogs are the only animals that lay eggs. I was still confused about where to get a drink when I saw the moon pass over my head. It was an exuberant feeling. I love the moon it loves me back. I want to get to know it better but the sun won’t let me because it dominates the sky most of the day. Day day day day day The cat two streets over from my house continues to visit me and I hate that cat because I am allergic to them. That’s not actually true I am not allergic to anything. Some day I would love to punch an old frog because of the history that they have with humans. It’s hard to imagine that I would ever do such a thing but that is one of my deepest desires. My friend Jon is always able to come up with the most random of things to write even when he’s fresh out of ideas. I think it’s impressive how funny he can be when he gets into it. It it it it Someone is talking to me and I don’t know what to write. I think I forgot to turn on the alarm to tell me when to stop. So I’m going to check that even though were not supposed to do that stopping kind of thing. I’ll do that now.
